The Future is bright

Greetings from the Great White North. Here in Grand Forks, N.D. there was already a foot and a half of snow on the ground when we got here, and we woke up this morning to more snow.
Anyway, point of this blog is that I had a chance to see one of Coach Forrester's signees, Michael Messer, play Wednesday night. His Lafayette squad took on Parkway South in a Suburban West match-up at Parkway South. South came into the game as the No. 8 team in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch poll.
Messer is about 6-1, 6-2. He could stand to put on a few pounds of muscle, but most freshman can so I'm not worried about that. Watching him early on I would have told you he needs to move more, he seemed to be comfortable roaming around the perimeter, however that changed. He started getting very involved ...

Just a week away from selection now, and we have gotten some more information. Evidently the conference representatives get on a conference call and sort of "fight" for who they want their teams to play. That said, it is likely to be based somewhat on record.
As I said, Eric Hess had some thoughts on the opponents. He believes Gardner-Webb and Manhattan are both high possibilities. Teams like Delaware and Canisius are also possibilities. Hawaii is on the list, but I wouldn't expect SIUE to go there, because of the cost.
Remember we wouldn't play an OVC team, so Austin Peay is out. There is a chance that we could play Carbondale, if we really fought for it probably. It is a nice thought. SIUC would probably sell it out. And can you imagine the return game next year at SIUE? Would be fun...
Game time tonight is 7:00pm ...

All right, again it has been a while away for me, but let’s face it the story hasn’t changed much for the Cougar men. The wins are still hard to come by, and I can only detail the issues and solutions so many times. The fact is SIUE is still mostly over-matched. That is not to say they don’t have a chance in the games they play, because they do. They do not give up, they continue to fight night in and night out. I enjoy calling the games and being with the team on the road throughout the season. Hopefully that is evident in my detailing of the games on the air.
All that said, let’s switch things up a little. I have been meaning to do this for awhile and Eric Hess, our Sports Information Director, has been long championing this blog. Let’s talk about the BracketBuster game ...
