Holliday Season Not So Jolly

Will Santa deliver Matt Holliday under the Cardinals tree by Christmas? I think Mr. Grinch, Scott Boras, is quickly finding out that the market for Holliday is thin. If you look around, the Yankees acquiring Curtis Granderson has taken some big bucks out of the mix. The Red Sox are still going hard after Jason Bay. The Angels are also knocking Bay’s door. The Cardinals have been taken a lot of heat from Boras about how they spend their money. The Cards should stay patient, and ignore those comments. Even though they need Holliday, Boras may need the Redbirds worse. Holliday is simply not going to get the 180 million that he wants. If the Cards can hang out just a little while longer, Holliday should be wearing the Birds on the Bat soon.

I'm pissed. I had all my ducks in a row for a trip to greater Phoenix and the Insight Bowl -- free flight, free place to stay, a little golf with my pal Doug. It was going to be a memorable (and rather inexpensive) New Year's Eve in the Valley of the Sun. All of that was ruined because of the greedy SOB's who think Iowa State will travel better than Mizzou.
Greed runs the bowls, always has and I'm not saying I wouldn't be greedy if I sat on the Insight Bowl committee. I just wonder how many more dollars it takes to say, sure, we'll take an inferior 6-6 Iowa State team beaten a few weeks back by Mizzou instead of the better team? Any formula to figure out why Iowa State fans will pour more money into Phoenix than Missouri fans? Won't people from from Iowa rather ...
